Return to me with your whole heart

“Even now, says the LORD, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting, and weeping, and mourning; Rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the LORD, your God. For gracious and merciful is he, slow to anger, rich in kindness, and relenting in punishment. Perhaps he will again relent and leave behind him a blessing, Offerings and libations for the LORD, your God.” (JL 2: 12-14)

With every busy day, many activities and actions, we slowly can forget who we are and where our destination is. Our personal growth plan lies somewhere between notes from meetings, and time for God, my spouse and family is increasingly reduced. That why we need Lent–“return to Him with our whole hearts, with fasting, and weeping, and mourning; Rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the Lord, your God.” He is gracious and merciful, “rich in kindness, and relenting in punishment.” He will bring us back to our identity and help us to grow as His children.

“If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” (Gospel Acclamation)
